If you have ever driven your Spyder RS hard out on track or down a mountain road, you will have noticed that it is considerably softer than a lot of the other GT RS products produced by Porsche. The reason for this is to make the chassis much softer so it is comfortable and complaint for general road use, but it impacts the handling performance of the car substantially through the corners, allowing the car to roll heavily when cornering.
For many of our customers, they expected the Spyder RS to be a bit stiffer, offering more composure and less roll through the corners as the car is an RS Porsche. Therefore, our engineers have developed the Suspension Secrets Uprated Spring Package for the Porsche 718 Spyder RS. Our kit uses specially selected Eibach Racing Springs to offer the best quality springs for maximum performance and longevity.
Our chosen spring rates stiffen the car slightly to improve the cornering behaviour of the car and rescue body roll substantially, all whilst staying fully within the range of the standard dampers. However, we have selected spring rates that are still perfectly usable on the roads and are not too stiff for road use either. keeping the car perfectly usable for its intended purpose, spirited road driving tours and trips.
Our spring rates have also been selected to resolve other issues that were identified when we were testing the standard car out on track. We have stiffened the front axle slightly in comparison to the rear to improve the balance of the car. What this produces is much more stability under heavy braking as the front axle does not dive heavily under braking with our spring package fitted. This reducing in dive keeps the rear wheels in contact with the ground under heavy braking, reducing pitch and increasing rear axle grip. This combination provides much more confidence and stability back to the driver, allowing you to push harder with much more confidence and feel from the chassis.
