Upgrade your driving experience by replacing your OEM wheel with an Alcantara racing wheel from KMP!
If an OEM steering wheel is removed, there will be several errors active. The racing wheel has specially developed electronics inside which simulate the OEM wheel. The plug-and-play solution makes sure there are no ECU error messages and no airbag light will turn on after installation.
The Porsche 991/981 racing wheel is standard equipped with a 44mm spacer. It is possible to replace the spacer with a quick-release adapter at additional costs. Both options will have a curly cable between the steering wheel and the hub.
Adapter Options: Spacer / Quick Release / Quick Release with Connector
Spacer
This is the standard fixed 44mm spacer. This will be mounted between the steering wheel and the steering hub. It is equipped with a curly cable to connect it to the in-car electronics. This option is often chosen because of regulations or to reduce costs.
Quick Release
When the wheel is equipped with a quick release, a plate stays on the steering hub, but your wheel can be easily taken off. It is also equipped with a curly cable for the in-car electronics. This option is often chosen because of easy accessibility reasons. With the curly cable, the wheel can be detached but not taken out of the car completely.
Quick Release with Connector
The quick release with integrated connector is used without a curly cable. The connector can be connected to the electronics of the car. The connection is made inside the quick-release/wheel hub.
Free-to-use buttons
A ‘free to use’ button can be used for anything you want. These buttons are switched to ground and can be used with the supplied flying leads. The flying leads are connected to the back of the slip ring (dashboard side). Connect an external timer, flash light, or anything you would like to control directly from your racing wheel. The wiring for each custom function needs to be done by the customer.
Different models
There are three different models available for Porsche 991/981 (non-GT) models. The basic version has two buttons and is the bare minimum setup. The standard model is equipped with 6 buttons. Four of these buttons are used to control functions that are also on the mid-console, such as Sport or PIT. The carbon LED plate is used as an indication of function status (on/off). The professional version has the same functionalities as the standard model, but it is equipped with a Deutsch connector, which allows you to remove the steering wheel completely. This professional model is often used for 24H endurance racing.

The function names will be laser engraved on the steering wheel. If the functions on the ‘Free to use’ switches are already known, please add this as a note to the order. If the function names are not supplied at the time of order, there will not be any engraving at these switch positions. It is possible to laser engrave the wheel any time later at KMP (€45 per wheel).
